8mm or Hi8 tapes look like this and can be anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours long. These are very smaller camcorder tapes that usually record in higher resolution than VHS tapes. In term of size they are between VHS and miniDV tape.
A Hi8 tape is the same as a regular 8mm tape but recorded in a digital format.
You can have the option of having your 8mm or Hi8 tapes converted to Gold type DVDs for extra long life or even in a digital format.
